Finally Jobs revealed his new Baby… the Fifth Generation of Iphones, (1G, 2G, 3G, 3GS, and Now

Iphone 4!).

There are lots of new Features, and Steve gets to reveal only 8 of them in this video, as he announced

the new Iphone 4 at the Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference in San Fransisco (June, 7, 2010)

One of the new feature that would probably supports Skype’s ability

to chat with fellow “skyper” (don’t know if it is even a word) is the Front Camera feature!

I always have wanted this… It’s aches my heart to see narcist in the club, having a hard time,

taking pictures of themselves with the current Iphone

Another “YAAYY!” moment will be the introduction, or so called the claim

of the “Apple A4 Processor” which can support multitask, like doing your laundry for you,

feed the kids, walk the dog, while still preserving battery life….

Well, I just hope, actually REALLY putting my finger crossed, that the new Iphone 4

Would be able to have a more prolonged battery life,

so that jealous friends and family

could NEVER tease me about the insanely short battery lifespan the current Iphones have..

Well… I have never been so excited before, Not even the iPad news tempted me

to update this blog.. and Yes.. This indeed changes everything. Again…..

Well in today’s English language fascination I am going to introduce a random sentence that meant alot to me.

If I remembered it correctly, this words came from my former physics teacher back in the Singapore days.

it goes something like this:

“You won’t treasure a thing,

Until its..Lost”

to me these words are very symbolic and full of meaning..

This is why I like it: It cleverly uses the word “treasure” and “lost” and brilliantly use its off topic relations and makes it meaningful in such a short but sweet sentence.

The fact is, I’ve checked, of all the languages I know so far.. there is no other language than the English language, that describes it best and deep like:

You won’t treasure a thing, until its lost..

If its not lost, it would not be a “treasure” right? duh…

I better stop this blog, before you become my “treasure”, yes you my readers..

1. Where are you from, and where are you at now?

Ans: I am from Indonesia, born and raised there, and a proud one too!

I am currently studying in Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, which is my 12th Years staying abroad, after starting my “education adventure” 12 years ago in Singapore.

2. What are you doing except studying right now?

Ans: apart from running a WebHosting company, I am also joining my friends and my brother in the iPhone apps/game venture, we actually has released two apps on the iTunes store, and they are doing well!

Background:

I am not a Language expert, nor am I a native speaker of the English language, but my “love affair” with the language having been using, and studying about it, or studying with it for the past decades or so has motivates me to start this “column” about it.

Today’s fascination:

I found this word/idiom while reading an article “somewhere”

Red Herring

this idiom is used to describe a purposeful attempt to divert attention from the supposedly main purpose of the argument.

example of use of the idiom “Red Herring” can be found usually in newspaper articles describing a politician debate.

Actual Red Herring in action:

“I believe that the penalty given (in a soccer game) was a controversial one, but we would like to point out that the opponent’s team supporters and member of the team has been playing unfairly against us.”

Anton’s Non-native point of view explanation:

the above example is a clear Red Herring, where the arguer introduce a second irrelevant point (the other teams are a cheat, the other teams are not playing fairly) in an attempt to divert the attention of the “audience” and making it sound “relevant” and valid.
